Cleverton Pizol

PIZOL BRAZILIAN JIU JITSU ACADEMY
HEAD INSTRUCTOR

Pizol started training Brazilian Jiu Jitsu in 1997 in Minas Gerais, Brazil under Alliance BJJ which is one of the world's leading Brazilian Jiu Jitsu organizations. He began to compete in various competitions in Brazil in 2000 winning several tournaments in quick succession.

While Pizol enjoyed the success that came with being the best in his field, he felt compelled to give back to the community that supported him and gave him so much. He took on the role of an instructor in 2003 becoming an integral part of a national social program in Brazil that taught underprivileged children the art of Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. After attaining his black belt in December 2005 under his Master Paulao Rezende, Pizol finally went on to open his own Brazilian Jiu Jitsu School. But his dream to achieve success didn’t end there. In 2011, Pizol moved to the United States to teach Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. In 2012 he opened the Pizol Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Academy in Port Chester. Quickly the school grew in size and scope.

Unfortunately, in 2013 without any warning Pizol suffered a life threatening brain aneurysm and had to go under emergency cerebral surgery to save his life; A procedure that doctors had predicted would leave him in a permanent vegetative state at best. But Pizol surprised everyone including his doctors. Against all odds he quickly recovered fully and three months after his surgery had won the 2014 ADCC America National Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Tournament and Buffalo International Challenge Tournament.

4th degree black belt and Graduated in Physical Education. Currently, Pizol continues to teach at his school mentoring the next generation of fighters.
